    Hello Swords.

As many of you know I run WF Arcanes and that my current crop of high level alts are Sorcs.

Ive built my Sorcs for Heroic questing but that may not be thebest way for Epics.

I take the usual Sorc feats- Toughness, Maximise, Empower, Heighten, SF/GSF Conj (for Webs and Blasts)

    I may have taken Extend.

My usual engagement would consist of Webbing trash, then Earth Grabbing casters, whilst using Acid Rain and blasts , Melfs with some Draconic action thrown in. I use Disintigrate and Polar Ray on on acid immunes plus Prismatic .

I also use Cloud kill and BDB and Cold DoT.

I stay away from instas due to a 34dc and sub par Penn.

    I also use Debuffs

Sorry for all tje “i alsos” but im posting from my phone.

My Sorc is a 1st life so not a great platform to work wit, plus my gear isnt great (feel free to yourDDO Daybreaks (myDDO doesnt work)))

Any advice on a Epic running build would be much appreciated, plus your expectations of a Sorcerer in an Epic quest

    Many thanks for your time

    Hi m8

In answer to the above all I expect from a sorc is very high damage output and unless you are completely useless it is not hard at all, I am however further impressed though if a sorc can instant mass kill/or cc a bit effectively in addition, as they have then clearly put a bit more effort into build.

As you are acid specced/conj focus above is fine, but a lot of the spells do not require a saving throw to be made, obvious exception are acid blast.web and a few more, you might want to look at getting the Epic Diabolists Docent, but if you currently have a greater spell focus: Conj item no real need, also epic rock boots are great for an acid specced toon as they free up your hands for other nice gear.

Now some Info. to get a bit more out of the Sorc if you want more flexibility:

With Epic Spell Pen, destinies and the general ease of running Epic Hard raids, sorcerers if they so wish really have quite a few Necro options they would normally be lacking in without taking anything away from their main line.

Obviously a PM is the specialist here so you won’t get the DC’s as high, but you can get pretty close, for example:

Drop Extend, Go for Spell Pen instead then at Epic Levels go for Greater Spell Pen and Epic Spell Pen for a total of +8, item will be another +2, destinies can get you another +3 upwards so starts to look viable.

With ship buffs and destinies you should be able to get your charisma to 42+ easy enough which will give you a dc of 36 on necro spells, +3 from magister destiny twisted in, +3 from major necro focus = 42 (not bad)

So with the above you can get a viable dc with a good spell pen on a Sorc for spells such as FOD, Undeath to Death, Wail etc… and still have everything you had before.

If you just want to stick with a acid cannon then pick epic toughness and epic spell focus:Conj for your epic level feats, but the options are now there to give you a bit more.

TR’ing a Conj based sorc is not really worth it as you will get a +1 to evocation spells which is pretty pointless.

    Thanks for the advice Leg.

So, drop extend for Penn  –  check

I have a Greater Conj item – check

I took Epic Conj I think, so I swap that for Penn

Do I dump a heroic Conj feat for something else?

Rock boots will free a Hand slot for..? Deaths Touch to boost Necro?

I have maxed one line in Draconic to get Vortex and the pre reqs went into Cha plus a couple of others inc Dragon Breath..

I have no spare points at the moment but Im sure I have one twist available – not sure how it works though.

As for dps I think my Rains and Vortex tick at 550ish base, Burst is perhaps 2000ish and Breath about the same..perhaps 3000 base but i forget exactly.

My blasts tend to get Evaded quite frequently so losing some Conj wouldnt be too great a loss other than weaker Webs (I do like having the bit of CC that they provide though)

I have a free LR available so I can respec easily – I just want to be sure I get the feats correct,..

I must remember to respec my secondary to Ice as for some reason I went Fire – strange.

If you could just clarify the fest list Id appreciate it as I got a little cofused.

    Cheers

Toughness, Maximise, Empower, Heighten, SF/GSF Conj, Spell Pen, G Spell Pen, Epic Spell Pen

Staff of the Necromacer will give you all you need, in addition you will get spell pen 9 and less aug and the potency of +86 which is fine for all other spells.

Ice is a nice backup damage line, make sure take at least 2 levels in enhancement, cheap and def worth it.

Another item you would greatly benefit by is the Epic ring of the Master Artifice, gr8 for repair spells and once get tier 3 gives u some handy epic slots.

Once you get more destiny levels twists and how to use will become clear, think you will only need 9 levels in total to have perm +3 dc to necro spells.

Then presume you have 2 greensteel items, aim for torc if not got yet too.

Just remember to not stop playing it like a blasting cannon though, easy to just rely on the necro aspect after a while, combining them can work well.

this is pretty much doable with a little effort.

Wiki says the staff is Btc, yet im sure ive seen them on the AH – maybe btc on equip.. I can start saving for that – perhaps ill farm for a Deaths Touch in the mean time.

Greensteel – I must be the only soon to be L24 who has finished Shroud flagging. Once Ive done Coal I can get tje Shards I need.

As for the Cannith items, I’ll have to check what ingredients I have, but these items have been my wanted list for a while.

Looks like its LR time for me soon then.

    Thanks again

Staff of the Necromancer is BtC on equip, but as it drops in the end chest for Death Undone (House Szind), it isnt that uncommon to get if you do some runs there. It can also appear in the chain reward list for the Sschindylryn chain, if you rather prefer to do all 3 quests instead of repeats of one quest.
