LGS crafting item set bonuses

I found this:

Discovered that taint of shavarath removes bonuses (might be new from a patch) till you remove the excessive tainted gear.

So need both items cleansed, it seems

I must say Im not sure if my previous statement about both items needing to be cleansed is true (it seems to be that only one is needed to be cleansed). Instead it might be so that you need to have the top tier in both items to correspond, to get the bonus.

Im one large stone away from being able to craft tier3 on one item, so hopefully within the next two shroud runs at most.
